Rojales is a proper town rather than an urbanisation — the Segura runs through it, there is a genuine centre with a market, and the population is predominantly Spanish with a steady expat presence spread through it. It is also the municipality that contains Ciudad Quesada, which sits on the hill above.
The housing here is more varied than anywhere else we work. Older town houses in the centre, riverside properties, modern developments, and the Cuevas del Rodeo — cave houses cut into the rock, some now craft workshops and homes. Cave properties are a genuinely different cleaning proposition: constant cool temperature, high relative humidity year-round, limited ventilation and rock surfaces. Soft furnishings in a cave house hold moisture continuously rather than seasonally, so mattresses and upholstery need treating more often than in a conventional property, not less.
Riverside properties have their own version of the same issue — humidity off the Segura keeps ground-floor rooms damper than the street suggests, and it shows up first in rugs and in the base of sofa cushions.
Once you come off the coast strip, finding a tradesperson who works in English gets harder. Everything we do is in English — quote, appointment, invoice, follow-up — and we do not use translation apps. That is the main reason expat households in Rojales and the surrounding inland towns call us rather than someone closer.

Yes. Cave properties hold constant high humidity with limited ventilation, so soft furnishings need treating more often rather than less. Mattresses and upholstery are the priority; the rock surfaces themselves we steam clean.
The building humidity is a structural matter, but what you can fix is the soft furnishings holding it. Rugs and sofa cushion bases are where it shows first and where the smell comes from. Extraction pulls the moisture and the microbial load out.
