Parque de las Naciones is built around its park — a large green space with an artificial lake, mature planting and walking paths, with the surrounding streets named after countries. It is one of the greener parts of Torrevieja and correspondingly popular with British and Irish residents, in a mix of bungalows, townhouses and low-rise apartment blocks.
Green space is pleasant to live beside and it does specific things to a property. Pollen loads here are higher than in the treeless urbanisations, which matters for anyone with hay fever or asthma because pollen settles into carpet, upholstery and mattresses and gets re-released every time the furniture is disturbed. Waterfowl on the lake bring their own dust and feather debris. And grass and soil walked in from the park mark differently to beach sand — organic staining rather than abrasive grit, which responds much better to cleaning but needs treating before it sets.
If somebody in the household has seasonal allergies and you live near the park, mattress and upholstery steam cleaning is worth doing in late spring rather than autumn. It clears the accumulated load at the point it is highest.
A park this size means a lot of dogs, and a lot of our Parque de las Naciones work involves them. Muddy paws are trivial. Pet urine is not, and it is worth being straight about it.
Urine soaks through carpet into the underlay and sometimes the screed below. The salts crystallise, and they reactivate every time humidity rises — which on this coast is most of the year. That is why an accident cleaned six months ago still smells on a damp August evening. Surface cleaning does nothing to it because the reservoir is underneath.
Our stain and odour treatment at €15 on top of the standard price treats sub-surface as well as surface. It resolves most cases completely. Where urine has been repeatedly deposited in the same spot over years, sometimes the honest answer is that the underlay needs replacing, and we will tell you that rather than take your money twice.

It can. Pollen settles into carpet, upholstery and mattresses and is re-released when the furniture is disturbed, so the load in the room is higher than the load outside. Near the park, treating in late spring clears it at its peak.
