Pilar de la Horadada sits at the southern boundary of Alicante province, right on the Murcia border, and unlike most of this coast it has a substantial economy that has nothing to do with tourism. The surrounding plain is intensively farmed — lettuce, artichokes, broccoli and citrus — and the town functions year-round rather than emptying in October. Its coastal strip is Torre de la Horadada and Mil Palmeras.
Agriculture is the local cleaning factor and it is a real one. Field work, ploughing and the irrigation cycle put fine soil dust into the air constantly, and it behaves differently to beach sand: finer, carrying organic material, and staining when damp rather than sitting on the surface. What it produces is an even greying of light carpet, upholstery and terrace tiles — not a mark you can point at, just a slow loss of brightness that nobody notices happening.
It responds very well to proper cleaning. The before-and-after in Pilar properties is frequently more dramatic than in coastal ones, because the soiling is uniform rather than concentrated in visible spots.
Because Pilar does not empty out, the balance of work here is different to the coast. Less changeover cleaning, more regular domestic cleaning and more one-off deep cleans for permanent residents.
Regular cleaning runs at €18 an hour with a three-hour minimum, weekly or fortnightly, same cleaner every visit, no contract and no tie-in. Deep cleans start at €140 for a two-bed and €195 for a three-bed with two cleaners.
Mobile car valeting works particularly well here because almost everyone has off-street parking. Our van carries its own water and power, so the car does not move and we need nothing from your property. Full valet €55, interior steam clean €35, exterior wash €25. Worth knowing: agricultural dust plus irrigation spray is hard on paintwork, and hard water spotting from washing in the sun is the most common self-inflicted damage we see.
