San Miguel de Salinas sits on high ground inland from the Orihuela Costa, looking down over the salt lagoons and out to the sea. It is a Spanish hilltop town with a real centre and a large surrounding spread of villa urbanisations, popular with British and Irish buyers who wanted more house and more land than the coast strip offered, plus the Las Colinas and Las Ramblas golf resorts nearby.
Altitude and exposure define the cleaning problem. San Miguel gets significantly more wind than the coast below, and wind carries agricultural dust from the surrounding farmland, dry salt particulate lifting off the lagoons, and the full force of Saharan calima, which hits exposed high ground far harder than sheltered streets. Terraces here need washing down constantly and interiors build a gritty film on hard floors faster than almost anywhere else we work.
That grit is abrasive. Walked across tile it dulls polished and terrazzo surfaces over years, and it is why cars parked outside up here should never be wiped down dry — dragging a cloth across that film puts fine scratches into the clearcoat that a proper contact wash would have avoided entirely.
San Miguel properties are generally bigger than the coastal average — three and four bedroom villas on real plots, often with pools and substantial terraces. A deep clean here is a full day. Three-bedroom from €195 with two cleaners; four and up quoted individually rather than pretending a list price covers it.
The sensible booking is everything in one visit: deep clean, all the mattresses, the sofas, and the terrace and outdoor furniture. One set-up, one day, 10 per cent off the total for combining services. Outdoor furniture matters here more than most places because exposed high-ground terraces take the worst of the UV and the dust; we steam clean rattan and outdoor fabric rather than pressure washing, which forces water into the weave and destroys it within a couple of seasons.

Exposure. San Miguel is high, open and windy, so it collects agricultural dust, salt particulate off the lagoons and the full force of calima. Cleaning cannot prevent it, but doing the terrace and furniture properly two or three times a year stops it building into permanent staining.
Not dry. The film up here is abrasive mineral grit, and a dry cloth grinds it across the paint. A 25 euro contact wash does less damage than a year of wiping.
